HAROLD' s RAPTURE
HAROLD'S RAPTUREWhat better way to make the Press, than to predict the Apocalypse. Yes, predicting the coming of the Lord. The man behind this Rapture frenzy is 89 year old American Evangelical broadcaster named “HAROLD CAMPING”. He predicted that Jesus Christ would return to earth on Saturday and true believers will be raptured to heaven.
On the first day of the Day of Judgment (May 21, 2011) they will be caught up (raptured) into Heaven because God had great mercy for themIn his words, “We learn from the Bible that Holy God plans to rescue about 200 million people”.
“On the first day of the Day of Judgment (May 21, 2011) they will be caught up (raptured) into Heaven because God had great mercy for them”.
He says biblical texts indicate that a giant earthquake on Saturday will mark the start of the world’s destruction, and that by 21 October all non-believers will be dead.
Mr Camping has predicted an apocalypse once before, in 1994, though his followers now say that only referred to an intermediary stage.
Harold Camping has received wide publicity in America, the Middle-East and other part of the world through various media, including Radio and Television broadcast, Billboards and the Internet. The frenzy of discussion is most noticeable on Facebook and Twitter.
It is worthy of note that after the obvious failure of his predictions of cataclysmic disasters, Harold has modified his Rapture theory, and he now predicts rapture as October 21st, 2011. Over the weekend, he said, he had returned to the scripture and it had “dawned” on him that a “merciful and compassionate God” would spare humanity by compressing the apocalyptic destruction into a shorter time frame. But he insisted 21 October had always been the end-point of his own chronology
What we as Christians believe, is the sure fact that Jesus is coming soon for his people. We are not blown away by doctrines or predictions that are not revealed to us (by the Holy Spirit) through the scriptures.
It is important to point out that Jesus Christ was very explicit about his second coming; that only the Father in Heaven knows the hour of his return, not some American Pastor [Matt 24:36].
#FACT: The end is near but it definitely wasn’t Saturday, 21 May 2011.
